We fell in love with Sanibel the very first time we stayed on the island.  We quickly realised we want to visit every year so now we have a condo (an apartment) on the beach with fantastic views over the Gulf of Mexico.  Even in the peak winter season, the amazing beach is quiet and only seconds from the door of your apartment.
